Chemistry
Established in 1989, the Department of Chemistry is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and scientific curiosity through quality education in chemical sciences. The department offers a dynamic and student-centric learning environment supported by well-equipped laboratories, qualified experienced faculty members, and innovative teaching practices.
An integral part of the department is the Chemical Association, along with its departmental newsletter CHEM-ZONE, which provide students with a vibrant platform for academic interaction and creative expression. The association organizes a variety of activities including workshops, Chem-Quiz competitions, Chem-Reels, Fun-Chem and Pipette rush events that make learning chemistry interactive, engaging, and enjoyable.
The department conducts certificate courses ,industruai visits aimed at enhancing employability, research aptitude, and professional competence. Students participate in National Science Day celebrations at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, gaining exposure to scientific research, technological advancements, and interaction with leading scientists.
The department actively promotes scientific research and innovation among undergraduate students. Faculty members mentor students in research projects, leading to collaborative publications in reputed journals and participation in academic activities. Students are further guided for competitive examinations such as JAM, IIT entrance examinations, CAT, and other national-level tests. Over the years, many students have secured admissions to prestigious institutions including the IITs and have excelled in diverse professional domains.
The department takes pride in its strong alumni network comprising successful professionals in academia, research institutes, industries, and corporate sectors. Alumni engagement activities, guest lectures, and interactive sessions provide current students with guidance, motivation, and insights into career opportunities and emerging trends in the field of chemistry.
Through its continuous pursuit of academic quality, innovation, and student empowerment, the Department of Chemistry remains committed to nurturing future-ready individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to science and society.
