The Department of Commerce at Royal College of Arts, Science and Commerce, established in 1989, has been a cornerstone of the institution since its inception. The department successfully offers two flagship programmes—B.Com and M.Com in Advanced Accountancy—designed to equip students with strong academic and professional competencies.
With a consistent track record of near 100% results at BCOM and MCOM level, the department reflects its commitment to academic excellence. Our alumni have distinguished themselves across public and private sectors, as well as in entrepreneurial ventures, contributing meaningfully to society and industry.
The department fosters a spirit of inquiry and innovation, encouraging students to actively participate in research platforms such as Avishkar Research Convention. A healthy and engaging academic environment is nurtured through strong teacher-student relationships, supported by initiatives of the Commerce Association and the department’s newsletter, Royal Celerity.

Academic Year 2025-26
During the academic year 2025-26, Department of Commerce organized various co-curricular and extracurricular activities under the aegis of Commerce Association, to facilitate holistic development of the students. Commerce Association works with an objective to motivate learners to organize and participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, so that learners could experience the creative energy and develop their organizational and leadership skills. The nature of the events helps them enhance their critical thinking.
Under Extension activities visits to Ankur and Anjuman orphanage were undertaken to instil social responsibility, empathy, and community engagement among students. Students developed compassion, teamwork, and an understanding of societal needs while contributing through donations, interaction, and support.
Guest Lectures on Career Counselling were conducted by Mr Yogendra Chavan, Marketing Head at Career Launcher, Borivali to provide guidance on career opportunities in commerce, professional courses (CA, CS, CMA, MBA), and emerging fields like digital marketing and Media. The talk on Career Counselling by Dr Manoj Mishra, General Manager, Art Media, helped the students gain clarity on career paths, improved their decision-making skills, and motivated them to pursue higher studies and professional certifications.
Royal Shark Tank was conducted to encourage innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and pitching skills by simulating real-world investment scenarios. The judges, Mr Anish Pillai and Ms Soleha Shaikh, our alumni, explained the students how to prepare business plans, present ideas confidently, and understand investor perspectives, fostering entrepreneurial spirit.
The Department published seven issues of the Newsletter, Royal Celerity.
Drama Club, an association of Students interested in dramatics, guided by the teachers of the Commerce Department, organised Play Parade, an interclass drama competition, to encourage creativity, teamwork and communication skills for the holistic development of students.
The Department conducted a certificate course of 30 hrs. on Leadership, Business Etiquettes and Corporate Grooming to equip the students with professional skills and foster strong workplace relationships.
The Association conducted several other activities like Humorous News Reading Competition (an intercollege event), Royal Entrepreneurship Development Talk (RED Talk), A Session on ‘The Art of Resume Writing’, Treasure Hunt and Visit to Sky City Mall and Industrial Visit to Silvassa to strengthened academic learning with practical exposure.
These activities promoted social awareness, innovation, enhanced career readiness and employability skills and fostered a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship, and community service.

Achievements
- The TYBCOM Semester VI (April 2025) batch achieved an outstanding overall result of 93.10%, reflecting strong academic performance across the cohort.
- Top Rankers:
– Kunder Shakshi Kishore – 1st Rank (499.50 marks)
– Patil Krishika Chandrakant – 1st Rank (499.50 marks)
– Bhadri Saimeen Ab Fahyum – 2nd Rank (483.00 marks) - Sujal Samirali Lagadia successfully cleared the CA Final Examination (September 2025) conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, demonstrating excellence in advanced financial and taxation subjects.
- Burhanuddin Sehorewala successfully cleared both Group I and Group II of the CA Final Examination (January 2026) with a total of 330 marks, marking a significant milestone in professional accounting.
Academic Year 2024-25
During the academic year 2024-25, Department of Commerce organized various co-curricular and extracurricular activities under the aegis of Commerce Association, to facilitate holistic development of the students. Events such as Job Jam, Treasure Hunt and Ad Mad were organized. Guest lectures by our alumni and reputed faculties, on Career Guidance by Aftab Khan, Vice President at JPMorgan Chase Bank, India, and Mr. Rajiv Vaidya, Ex Executive Director, Ministry of Tribal Welfare, Govt of India, were organized. The Department also organized a talk on the cross-cutting issue of Gender- Talk by Dr Salma Khan on Gender Sensitization- My Journey: Navigating Identity, Self Discovery and a talk on Anti-Tobacco “The Role of Youth in Building Tobacco Free Society”- QUITTING THE ADDICTION by Dr. Rohan Bhartake. An intercollegiate quiz on Accountancy was organized during Gyan Manthan 2024-25. A very significant and interesting activity, Royal Shark Tank (an evaluation of Business Proposal) was organized to provide students with a platform to present their business ideas.
Drama Club, an association of Students interested in dramatics, guided by the teachers of the Commerce Department, staged a play “Savdhaan Patrol” scripted by FYBCom students.
The Department published seven issues of the Newsletter, Royal Celerity.
As a part of the extension activity, Students were taken for a visit to Ankur Orphanage and Anjuman-E- Mufidul, to sensitize them to the plight of the people staying there.
A Visit to MBMC School was organized where our students conducted awareness session on financial investments. Students from undergraduate and postgraduate levels participated in Research Presentation.
Some of them completed Articleship and Internship for professional development. The Department also conducted a Certificate Course of 30 hrs. on Social Media Marketing for the benefits of the learners. The Department organized Industrial Visit to Parle-G Factory, IGATPURI to provide practical exposure and familiarize learners to the different types of manufacturing processes and introduce them to packaging and its importance.
Visits to Growels and In Orbit Mall were organized to acquaint learners about how mall advertising takes place and leads to impulsive shopping and to introduce them to mall management.
