‘Karo Yoga Raho Nirogh‘
In line with the above statement, our college took its first step towards Yoga in 1996-97 by starting yoga classes, on trial basis, for students and outsiders. After the success of these sessions the college formed a yoga institute in 2005 under the name of Camarrudin. G. Poonawalla‘s ‘Yog Sadhana Kendra’ and started organizing regular yoga sessions, by a full time dedicated certified yoga instructor.
Over the period of time, the centre has been instrumental in
conducting several activities and events for students, outsiders and senior
citizen. An overview of these activities’ is provided below
For Students:
- As a part of its curriculum the college has made
it mandatory for the second year students (Degree College) to complete 10 yoga
sessions.
- Students are also trained to participate in
inter-collegiate yoga competition
- Students also perform yoga asanas on Annual day
of the college every year
- From 2016 onwards , the centre has also started celebrating
‘International Day for Yoga’ on June 21st
every year by creating awareness about yoga
For Outsiders:
- During vacations , the centre organizes health
camps on topics like stress, diet , diabetes, heart related disease etc
- It organizes picnics to nature blessed places like
Keshawshruthi and resorts
- It centre also conducts special batches on
activities such as Surya Namaskar, Pranayama, classical Asanas and relaxation
techniques etc
For Senior Citizens:
- The institute has been organizing free yoga
session for senior citizens
- Besides these sessions, the centre has also created
a ‘Happy Sunday Club’ with a motto to make them happy. From November 2018 onwards,
this club organizes fun activities for senior citizen on every 3rd
Sunday of the month. These activities include playing games, singing, celebrating
festivals etc.
For Teachers:
The centre also welcomes the teachers to take advantage of the centre during their free time. Teachers can go to the centre for relaxation, meditation, stretches and neck exercises etc
