Founded by Asgar E. Lakdawala alongside four dedicated friends, the Royal Society of Bombay was established with a singular mission — to uplift poor and needy students in the Bohra community through education.
Benefactors from the community steadily joined the mission. Educational assistance rapidly expanded to cover school transport, tuition fees, books, uniforms, and stationery for students in need.
While serving as a lecturer at Elphinstone College, the founder envisioned creating a full-fledged Arts, Science and Commerce college. The Royal Higher Education Society was established to turn this ambitious vision into reality.
Philanthropists from across the Bohra community contributed generously to the college project. Late Ismailbhai Kanga, Chairman of Srishti Housing Complex, made a transformative donation of 10,186 sq. metres of prime land for the campus.
The establishment of Royal College of Arts, Science and Commerce marked a historic milestone. The institution opened its doors to students from diverse backgrounds, making quality higher education accessible to all.
Royal's Hussain Adamally Girls' High School (English Medium) was established, creating a dedicated and nurturing environment for girls' secondary education in the community.
Royal's Yousuf Zaveri Girls' Urdu School was established, extending quality education to Urdu-medium students and ensuring no child was left behind due to language barriers.
Taher Adamali College of Education for Women was established — an institution dedicated to training the next generation of women educators and empowering them to shape future classrooms.
Today the trust has around 600 life and patron members. Royal's educational initiatives continue to benefit students from the Bohra community and beyond, carrying forward a 60-year legacy of compassion and excellence.
